All teams are required to have their players shag foul balls. If the players fail to chase the foul balls and the umpire runs out of baseballs, the clock is still running on their games.
All games have a 2 hour time limit unless it is a tourney which rain delays us then we will run a 1 hour and 30 minute time limit on the games. No new inning may start after 2 hours UNLESS the game is tied at the end of the time limit (does not apply to championship game --1 game only!).
If the contest is tied at the end of the time limit, each team will have 1 inning to break the tie. If at the end of the inning the game is still tied, it will be recorded as 1/2 win and 1/2 loss for each team in the standings (does not apply to championship games). If the game 2 hour time limit is not over and the game is in extra innings, the game continues until the time limit is up, then 1 extra inning is allowed.
IF AN INJURY OCCURS--AND A PLAYER, COACH, UMPIRE DELAYS THE CONTEST FOR MORE THEN 5 MINUTES...ALL OF THAT TIME IS ADDED TO THE CLOCK....INJURY SHOULD NOT prevent the kids from playing their full time allotment..
All games will begin 20 minutes after the completion of the previous contest. The times designated on the schedule are for convenience.
All teams should arrive 45 minutes prior to your scheduled start time and be prepared to begin their contest immediately. Home team is determined by coin-flip. Championship home team is best seeded team. No infield practice is allowed UNLESS tourney director waives the rule.
Any ejection for unsportsmanlike conduct by a player or coach prohibits that individual from participating in the next contest (rule may be overruled by ejecting umpire or tourney director). Ejected players or coaches cannot be on the premesis. An adult supervisor must be on bench with players or it is a forfeit.
Designated hitter is allowed for pitcher only if team opts to use the DH. Extra hitter may be used by team if they choose to do so but it is not mandatory. Designated runners for pitchers and catchers is OK if done IMMEDIATELY. If they do not run immediately, designated runner is not allowed. No pitching regulations. No throwing the ball around the horn is allowed. Ball must be returned back to the pitcher after out is recorded.
All games will use the high school enter/re-enter rule on substitutions. Slaughter rule is 10 runs after 5 innings in Pool Play and 15 runs after 3, 10 after 5 in tournament play. WE ARE USING COLLEGE BASEBALL RULES WITH THE EXCEPTIONS NOTED!
Home team is official scorebook. Winning team should make sure score is recorded properly by contacting the tourney director immediately after game is completed. If a field director is present please personally make sure he has the correct score. He will call the tourney director with the score.
Protest Fee: There will be a $100 protest fee before any protest is accepted. If your protest is won, the fee will be returned. If it is disallowed, you forfeit your fee. Fee is to be given to field director and the field director will contact tourney director.
ROSTERS: ALL teams must post their rosters on our website.TEAMS MUST POST THEIR ROSTERS ON LINE on our website. A completed roster form is mandatory to participate in all of the Diamond Sports Promotions, Inc Events. Although the rosters are posted prior to the tourney, there is an open roster clause in our rules. You may use a player in a game that is not included in the roster but you must add that person prior to him playing in the game (see special World Series roster rules).
Teams who place multiple teams in a tourney may NOT switch players from team-to-team during the tourney UNLESS APPROVED BY TOURNEY DIRECTOR TO PREVENT A FORFEIT. Once a player begins playing with a team in the tourney, he must continue playing with that team for the duration of the tourney. The only exceptions to this rule is if a tourney consists of a JR Varsity and a Varsity division, the younger player may compete with both teams during the tourney or and injury forces a lack of players for one team.
No warmups are allowed in front of the dugouts or in the infield. Make sure all warmups are conducted in the OUTFIELD.
ALL ON DECK HITTERS SHOULD STAY IN DESIGNATED AREA...off the grass and in the on deck designated area.
PITCHERS SHOULD STAY ON THE DIRT!!! When catcher is throwing baseball back to pitcher--TELL YOUR PITCHERS TO STAY ON DIRT AREA OF MOUND....THIS IS A BIG PET PEEVE WITH COLLEGE COACHES BECAUSE IT WEARS OUT THE GRASS WHEN YOU PLAY 5 GAMES A DAY ON THEIR FIELD!!! PLEASE COACHES HELP US OUT AND TELL YOUR PITCHERS IN ADVANCE!
There will be a $25.00 fine for any team who does not clean up their dugout prior to leaving it. The colleges are beginning to make us put deposits down due to past teams at Diamond Sports Promotions events not cleaning up the dugouts after each game. This includes elimination of all Gatorade bottles, cups and any other trash. Put these items in the garbage cans outside the premesis before leaving.
If a team leave the dugout dirty, the Field Director will call the Tourney Director and that team must pay the clean-up fee prior to playing their next game. Refusal to do so results in forfeiture of the next contest.
PLEASE REMEMBER it is a privilege to play at the fields and we want to be invited back. Please help us keep these fields and Diamond Sports Promotions in good standing.
There is NO SMOKING or TOBACCO PRODUCTS of any kind allowed int he dugouts or playing area. State Laws prohibit the use of tobacco products or alcohol use on high school or college facilites as well as park district property.
TIES IN THE STANDINGS are broken by: 1) Head-to-head (disregard if more than 2 teams are tied for a standings position), 2) FEWEST Runs Allowed, 3) MOST Runs Scored and 4) Coin Flip. The Results page on the website will carry updated standings and game scores as they become available. Any weather related changes will be listed in the Weather Updates section of the website. Bring a lap top so you can keep up on all of the action at the tourney.
ALL Pool Play games are FINAL regardless of how many innings are played. There are NO SUSPENDED GAMES. For instance, if a Pool Play game is in the 3rd inning and it is called due to darkness or weather, it is complete and the final score stands.
WE WOULD MAKE AN EXCEPTION if the team has not played at least 1 hour!!!
We update the scores/standings after each session at http://diamondsportspromotions.com. The summary results usually are accurate, however the tourney director makes the final decision on final standings. If a team wins by forfeit, it is recorded as a 7-0 victory however, when determining the playoff qualifiers and seedings, we determine the average runs scored and average runs allowed for total games played and use those numbers for the final score of the forfeited contest(s).
There are Pool Play summaries to determine the qualifiers for the tournaments. There is also listed the OVERALL STANDINGS listed, however, those are for ANALYSIS PURPOSES ONLY. The OVERALL STANDINGS are NOT used to determine who plays in the playoffs, however, they may be used to determine a champion of a tourney in case rain after tourney play begins (i.e.-both teams qualify with semi final game victories in the tourney but rain cancels the championship game-we may use the OVERALL STANDINGS on the website to determine the tournament champion rather then reverting back to pool play results).
All rules may be over ridden by Tourney Director if he deems it necessary and benefits the players and is not detrimental to the tourney progress.
